You haven’t made it in trinidad unless you have achieved a higher level of education. Though more popular back when the tertiary choices were fewer, U.W.I still posses the lure to those who aspire to be a “big doctor” or a “big engineer”.But for parent and child alike the University of the West Indies is a win win. For the young ones it spells “freedom” in neon lights, time to hit up some “big” college parties and meet some “foreign tings”. And Parents gain the satisfaction of telling all their friends “mih chile goin Uwee”.

Topic No.5 Should definitely be machel, trinis cant get enough. But all things aside a lot of his efforts go unnoticed, but this is by far has to be the biggest collaboration to date.

#4.Criticizing The Younger Generation

A Generational gap can be defined as occurring “when older and younger people do not understand each other because of their different experiences, opinions, habits and behavior, and with every i phone ,psp and xbox 360 it widens. If you are a trini chances are your grandparents (or parents in some cases) still have that analog television and they still don”t know about your secret hi5 or facebook account.

If i were to show this blog to a lecturer or teacher, i could bet they would criticize me for not highlighting “peakong” or “lackaray” (if thats how to even spell it) since this blog concentrates on trinidadian stuff. Even if you dont listen to mavado or 50 Cent you still get your turn.

“The young people dont do this they dont do that” Oh forget it already!

#3.Being Fair Weather Friends

Now I’m sure you all know by now that the soca warriors won in the match between bermuda. Reading the trinidad express today [TUESDAY 24 JUNE 08] and i was startled by the “todays big question” section where the comments were very positive comments like:

“This is the positive side of T&T that needs to be seen from around the world”

or “Well done Soca Warriors…well get there again”

with one even saying “I am breathing now”

People going mad when last two weeks the comments were like and i quote:

“Trinidad is not a football country”

“Them boys eh going no way”

From “we is de worst” to “SOUTH AFRICA HERE WE COME!!!!!” we will see how the love hate relationship with the Soca Warriors unfolds later on.

ANYWAY GOOD LUCK TO THE WARRIORS I SUPPORT YOU ……..

#2.(For The Government)Knowing Whats Best For Everyone

In our state of …well we ain’t really in a state anymore so do you think we would really start to try to come up with different methods for the crime situations or trying to stabilize the economy ,control inflation etc no the government runs to fix everybody’s problem but ours. Note: If you actually try to confront the government on this one you will be ignored but wait!!!! don’t worry be a man/woman of the people and spread the word to fellow citizens until we get a long weekend or holiday. Because after that everyone will be too drunk or tired to care and we forget about it.

eg.

Trini man1:”carib gone up”

Trini man2: “carib gone up gedd i eh buying no @#$ing carib again bun de government bun errybody”

A Week Later:

Trini man 1:”what about de boycott gedd?”

Trini man2:”heh heh doh study it nah man yuh we hatta eat ah food ah man must drink lewe lime nah doh study it”

If you want to challenge the government in trinidad you really have to be innovative because by friday no one cares..any way i going to lime laterz!

Trinis love a holiday regardless of the actual significance it may have to the country.Someone died we get a holiday.We accomplish something we get a holiday. Trinis don’t apply for jobs like others,trinis approach jobs like “how much ah go get for this?” Note: do not actually attempt to confront the trini with this or you will get ” a kick inna face” just roll along with it.
